Contract: €39,523 to €51,034 per annum per annum pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts (public sector pay policy rules pertaining to new entrants will apply).

Ambito di ricercaMSC therapy can modulate immune responses and promote tissue healing. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a dynamic and motivated multidisciplinary team that are exploring the potential of harnessing EVs (cell-secreted nanosized packages containing protein and nucleic acids) as an alternative to cell therapy. This frontier postdoctoral project will investigate the secretion of EVs from MSCs cultured in biomimetic environments and their uptake by recipient cells. In particular, the mechanobiology cues that can regulate their immunomodulatory roles in tissue repair will be investigated.


  • Conduct experiments to evaluate the secretion of extracellular vesicles (EVs) by mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) under various culture stimuli
    • Design and perform experiments to evaluate EV-recipient cell interactions and modulation of immune cell responses, primarily by employing flow cytometry
    • Characterize EVs by genomics, proteomics, flow cytometry and advanced microscopy techniques
    • Proactively identify technical hurdles and solutions for project deliverables
    • Relay results in written reports and presentations and participate in dissemination of results by preparing manuscripts for peer review
    • Work effectively independently while also engaging in collaborations and training of team members

  • PhD in immunology, biomedical science, biotechnology, pharmacy, regenerative medicine or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience designing and conducting in vitro cell culture experiments
  • Experience handling immune cells
  • Experience with flow cytometry
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Track record in dissemination of research findings

DescrizioneA research position is available under the supervision and coordination of Dr. Lorenza Lazzari at the Laboratory of Regenerative Medicine-Cell Factory, Policlinico Milano.

Innovative infrastructures and exceptional labs fully equipped with new instruments (several laminar hoods and incubators, ultracentrifuge, microscopes, confocal microscopy, Seahorse, hypoxic chamber, WB, realtime, etc) are available.

Role: ability to independently design, conduct, interpret and analyze experiments, to coordinate and team work with junior colleagues and to disseminate results in high impact factor journals.

Research: human organoids as models and as organ replacement, human extracellular vesicles from primary and reprogrammed cells.

Requisiti: Experience with advanced 3D cell culture and with extracellular vesicles will be an added value.

Contract: 1 year with the possibility of extension, salary based on the degree of expertise, independent contractor (partita IVA) or fellowship as requested by the Minister of Health.
